Why I Started Church Mother Bread and What Makes It Unique

I started Church Mother Bread during one of the most challenging times of my life. I was hospitalized for months during a severe lupus flare, facing Stage 4 kidney failure, temporary blindness, shingles, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a host of other issues. In the midst of it all, I prayed to God not to let me die like this. I reflected on the selfish life I had lived, realizing I hadn’t brought Him any glory. I believe that moment of surrender is when my kidneys began to heal. 

During a seven-year recovery battle, I began to understand my true purpose.  During that time, I was dependent on others to drive me everywhere. It was then that I noticed something unsettling in my community. In marginalized neighborhoods, where people looked like me, there was a sense of aimlessness—people living only for the next weekend or party. It was also when I learned about the more than 300,000+ missing women, girls, and boys from the Black community.

Church Mother Bread was born out of a determination to make a difference. We are more than just a bakery; we are part of a movement to create positive change. We craft high-quality bread puddings, butter cakes, and desserts that reflect purpose, care, and resilience. Every product embodies our mission to empower underserved and marginalized communities. We are committed to building opportunities for economic growth, supporting organizations that combat human trafficking, and creating a lasting legacy of empowerment for future generations.
